Abu Dhabi, 4 May 2008: Within its endeavors to offer innovative banking services by leveraging advances in technology, ADCB signed today with Emirates Identity Authority a Memorandum of Understanding, setting the foundations for both parties to explore areas of mutual interest of the National ID card. The signing ceremony held at the Head Office of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, was attended by H. E. Darwish Ahmed Al Zarouni, Director General, Emirates Identity Authority and Mr. Ala'a Eraiqat, Deputy CEO, ADCB.
Emirates Identity Authority's decision to include a micro-chip makes the ID card unique to the region. ADCB working alongside Emirates Identity Authority attempts to explore areas of mutual interest for the chip based National ID card and develop multiple financial applications and services; creating greater functionality and convenience. EIDA has chosen ADCB as a strategic partner out of their conviction that ADCB has made customer security central to its Card products- Chip based Credit & Debit cards, the most secure in the market.
On the occasion, Mr. Ala'a Eraiqat, Deputy CEO,ADCB said: 'We are proud to be part of this strategic partnership with the Emirates Identity Authority as we share the visionary goals in developing a secure infrastructure for the future of UAE nationals and residents. ADCB looks forward to working in collaboration with such a prestigious and worthwhile project utilizing financial applications to share the security, convenience and peace of mind enjoyed by ADCB customers with the holders of the National ID card."
H.E. Darwish Ahmed Al Zarouni, Director General, Emirates Identity Authority said: "this MOU signed with ADCB is an initial step towards the establishment of the electronic link between Emirates Identity Authority with various government, semi government and private sectors. It is anticipated that the usages of this card shall expand in the future to include other fields, saving time and efforts and ensuring the card holders of the highest possible security and privacy levels, especially after the completion of the registration of UAE nationals and residents in accordance with the authority's set strategy".
